About
Hi I’m Brent
I love a good quest or challenge and I have challenged myself to create 100 posts on this site beginning April 2020. Most of the posts will be about my quest to learn the “Practice of Art and the Art of Practice”. Some of the posts will be newly edited versions of posts I have done on previous blogs and experimental sites. My previous blogs were on blogspot.com and a recent experimental website other was TabletPainter.com which now redirects here. With Tablet Painter I was exploring my interest in digital painting. I still enjoy painting digitally at times but I have recently started to explore using pencil and paper. I am most fond of the water soluble pencils.
I like to explore and discover through art. Currently I like to express myself in a loose and impressionistic style. I especially like to capture the depth of a scene mostly because I like wide open spaces as well as seeing the “big picture” of small things.
Admittedly impressionistic paintings are often done using more traditional mediums of oil paint, pastel sticks, acrylic or watercolor paint. But using digital media or pencils has proven to be a super convenient way to create art because there is very little mess and prep time. A traditional pencil or a digital pencil almost always immediately accessible.
Writing helps me learn. Sharing it helps me learn it even more. So here I will share what I learn, not in a “you should do this” sort of way but in a “this worked for me, maybe it can give you ideas of what would work for you”.
Finally my true vision for this experiment is to capture the reasons WHY we all should practice art. For me, it teaches me to explore and observe in new ways.
