Many would say that abstract art is just paint thrown on the canvas. I used to be in that camp until I tried it a few times. I usually end up with a muddy mess. It is hard to get something abstract that also is interesting to look at.
So occassionally, I try. It's kind of fun. I throw something down until that something catches my eye and starts to symbolize something more than just paint on a canvas.
So while I agree the abstract is an exercise of just throwing the paint down. I also have learned that there is a lot of artistry in *how* you throw it down.
